Interior Temperature of a Car in Celsius
Here in Ontario, we consider ourselves pretty lucky that we have very beautiful summer weather that is not too hot or too cold. However, we might experience a heat wave once in a while or the place that we are traveling to is a little warmer. This means that our vehicle can get too hot for comfort. So how hot can the inside of your vehicle get? Read on to find out!
When all of your vehicle’s windows are completely closed, it only takes a few minutes for the temperature to rise significantly. And when the sun is out, the interior temperature can get even hotter. Some studies show that the interior temperature of your vehicle can get to more than 90 degrees Celsius on a hot summer day. There may also be some variation depending on whether your car’s interior is light or dark in color.
Probably the most painful part of having a hot vehicle cabin is touching that hot steering wheel. To help keep it a little cooler, just throw a towel over it or invest in a special (yet inexpensive) steering wheel cover.
This amount of heat is not only uncomfortable but also dangerous – especially for children and pets. That is why you should never leave them in your vehicle, even if it is only for a few minutes. If you need to run errands, the best thing to do is keep the pets at home near the A/C. And if the kids whine and try to tell you that they will be fine in the car while playing on the phone – make them come into the store with you because a quick errand usually ends up taking a lot longer than expected.
